Returning to the road for another 2 hours brought us into the Lake Taupo district. As we approached a thermal feature distracted us, of which there are many here, called the Craters Of The Moon.
It is essentially a field of scrub plants pocked by dozens of steam vents, spewing clouds of sulphur dioxide, or is that just Lenny after four hours in the car?
